About Our School


      Loma Linda is a safe, friendly school that acknowledges students who excel academically, show outstanding behavior and exemplary citizenship through our Triple L Awards.

History
      Adjacent to Centennial Park, Loma Linda was built in 1972. Its name in Spanish means "beautiful hill" and was appropriately selected because of the beautiful view of the mountains and parks from the school grounds.

School Focus
      Loma Linda prides itself on providing quality educational experiences for all students and for celebrating their diversity that mirrors society at large.  Beginning fall 2005, Loma Linda is implmeneting expanded learning opportunities for all students through Math/Science Focus Program.  All instructional programming will center around the content of Math and Science. Additionally, our after school opportunities will be expanded to support the Math/Science Focus Program.  The staff is committed to providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment that will foster increased student achievement.  Specifically, the school's goals are to:

  • Increase student achievement.
  • Develop a partnership with parents and the community at large to support the development of the whole child
  • Provide a learning environment that supports high quality learning opportunities for all students.

      To meet these goals, the staff is focusing their professional development on instruction strategies and refining diagnostic skills in reading, writing, and math to support students who are not yet deomonstrating proficiancy. Additionally we are committed to providing quality, rigorous enrichment for students who are already proficient.

      Math/Science Focus Programming, quality Gifted & Talented (Challenge) programming, small class sizes, a literacy lab, bilingual/ESL instruction for second language learners, a technology lab with a full-time instructor, and CHAMPS (a mentoring program) are among the wide variety of unique experiences available for students.
